Gold Coast based tween pop sensation UnderCover 5 make a bold and brave statement in one of their two newly released songs, “Scream”.
The group’s fans, eager for the two new song releases last month, were not expecting something so off centre as “Scream”.
“It’s timely” said their manager, Australian Events & Entertainment’s Danielle Goullet.
“We’ve got a lot of comments from industry personnel and peers, some of which have wondered why UC5 have forayed into social statement. It’s simple, it’s a sign of the changing times. Scream simply comments on the falsity of so much of the entertainment industry, where what is conveyed to us isn’t necessarily real, which causes many to lose their personal identity”.
Sophie Scott the group’s eldest member, suggests there are more teenagers aware of the ego and falseness of what much of today’s music portrays, than we may think.
“In the song we sing “all faking and all fantasy, posing like a pop star screaming out - look at me”. There are many of us that don’t agree with the way a lot of performers present themselves and their music. As a group, we like to think of ourselves as more earthy and real, where we sing about real life”.
Hear it for yourself, UnderCover 5 will be performing a 60 minute choreographed show in the International Showroom at Twin Towns Services Club on January 16, at 10.30 am. They’ll feature their two new songs, as well as their big screen AV documentary "Uncovering UnderCover 5 : The Journey To Turn It Up", along with 6 back up dancers, and a special guest drummer Isaac. To top it off, UnderCover 5 has created history here, as this is the first time in Twin Towns Service Club history that an all original pop group has premiered in their International Showroom.
Tickets are available online at www.twintowns.com.au or by calling the box office on 1800 014 014.
